Update: Results, America and a Helicopter

Hello! I feel like I need to give you all a quick update on what’s been going on in my life and what’s coming up on the blog.

My first notice for the blog is that there will be two Picks coming soon. One today and another tomorrow. One is a book and the other is a film… there really isn’t much to add to that.

The other thing is that I have made a Facebook page for the blog, which can be found at www.facebook.com/pages/Vincis-Pick/263426630532525 . I will put updates on the page about upcoming posts and news. I’ll try to add more to the page if I can, but please do go over to it and give it a like.

Shameless self-promotion aside, it’s time to listen to me talking about… me. I can already hear your eager anticipation.

It’s been a fairly busy week. With my granddad’s and mother’s birthday, I was kept quite occupied with festivities for them. I’ve had a couple of nice meals with the family, which has been keeping my mind on the next item I want to address…

Of course, ‘Results Day’ came. I would like to wish good luck to those who have just got their results and hope that your futures will be successful ones. I am extremely happy with my results, but I know that some of you are disappointed and have not quite achieved what you expected. I’d like to make a post on Thursday, the ‘GCSE Results Day’, to address my views on results in more detail.

My dad surprised me with a helicopter ride this Friday:

Yep, that’s my house. It was a whole new experience and one I’ll keep treasured in my memories forever… and a little more on top of that.

I have got my first paying job at my local pub. I have a trial run on Monday, but hopefully that should all turn out alright.

Recently, I’ve been looking at my university application. After having a few options sorted, my attention suddenly turned to the thought of America. At first, I dismissed the idea as impossible, but then I thought very simply: Why is it impossible? It dawned on me finance can be a pain in the behind! Anyway, I’ve been looking into the whole idea, and I see that it is doable. What’s more, it’s something that I want. It’s an achievement I hope to work towards. Even if I don’t quite make it, at least I won’t regret not trying at all.

Life seems to be going well at the moment, and I’m thankful for that. With the increased traffic on my blog, results and a possible job, things seem to be great.

Last year, I was worried about what my future would hold. It was like a fell a few steps down the ladder, and had a few bruises to show for it. I’m happy to say I feel like I’ve climbed up even higher than I thought I would ever get to within the short space of a year. This blog has been one rung. I’m so glad I started it and happy that it’s drawn some small attention (mostly from friends, but what better attention is there?)

All I can say now is I hope you have a good day. If not, make it one…

Wow, that sounds cheesy. I’m going to put a line straight through that stilton. I mean, I should know better than that!

See you later on today.
